Xibarri (‘xivarri’ means clamour, raket in Catalan) is Good2b’s new favourite restaurant. Located in the Yurbban hotel, it serves traditional Catalan dishes made with first quality produce and little artifice. This instant classic is run by Carles Garriga, a young chef who decided to turn his hobby into his modus vivendi.

Whether you have lunch or dinner at Xibarri, start with their spectacular xatonada with cod, coca de recapte with anxovies, chicken croquettes, fried eggs with potatoesand ham or alternately with foie, black butifarra or perol. The menu also includes Catalan-style pasta dishes, including Canelons d’en Garriga and macaroni with knife-cut meat. The legume section includes such incredible dishes as lentil salad with foie; the stew section features meatballs with cuttlefish or calamari cooked with onions. The more demanding will sate their appetite with hearty meat dishes such asBerguedá butifarra or old Galician cow steak, while lovers of lighter food can enjoybattered hake or Basque-style monkfish tail. As for desserts, don’t miss their cottage cheese with honey, Catalan crème brûlée, bread with chocolate, oil and salt, as simple as it is delicious. Lunch or dinner at Xibarri is about 25/30€, depending on how hungry you are and, of course, on the wine. There’s also a breakfast menu for 14€ and a lunch menu available for 16€.

Xibarri isn’t only a restaurant –it also boasts an outdoor area with a swimming pool on the eighth floor which offers 360º views of Barcelona

But this isn’t all. Xibarri isn’t only a restaurant –it also boasts an outdoor area with a swimming pool on the eighth floor which offers 360º views of Barcelona, which turns it into one of the best roofs in Barcelona! Thanks to the sunsets and the DJs, it was last summer’s favourite destination in the city. Although it isn’t possible to enjoy the restaurant food here, there is a list of cans and snacks to enjoy with cocktails –Spritz Aperol with ginger beer, Pink of North with Rum, Margaritas… You name it!

cuerpoOk it’s already cold enough to have a cocktail on the Yurbban roof at night, don’t despair because it opens at 5pm. At night both cocktails and Djs go downstairs to accompany diners and provide the music for the first drinks of the night, served in a nice, well-decorated space.

That said, close your eyes and imagine the conversations with your group of friends at the table and all the toasting and broken plates and all the xivarri!
