Design is everywhere. The bank notes and the coins we use daily have also been designed, though they don’t usually please everyone.

If we were given the chance to re-design the Euro notes, I’m sure the outcome wouldn’t be as nice as the proposal of Hungarian art student Barbara Bernát, who designed them for her MA degree project, and judging by what we’re seeing, she must have got an A+.

The animals, which seem taken from children’s illustrated books, belong to native species of several European countries. The security marks that prove the banknotes aren’t false are fluorescent and revealed by the animal’s shape, and the simplicity of the information has captivated us. Maybe having more naïve looking money would make us think less about it, or at least we’d look at it with kinder eyes. Who knows?
