We have a new favorite place a few meters from the office. Mey Hofmann just opened a tavern to unleash its more traditional side in a space occupied in the past by the not so fortunate dishes of Cal Xim and Foc Ca La Nuri. But we trust in Mey and hope it will stay here for very long. One of our favourite chefs for miles round leaves the sophistication of haute cuisine for tapas, wine and rustic homemade bread. Desserts are obviously by Hofmann.

Mey Hofmann began her career at the top, conquering haute cuisine thanks to a well-deserved Michelin-starred restaurant and a school specializing in a very particular type of cuisine, as well as with one of the best bakeries in the city. Who has been able to resist their prohibitive mascarpone-stuffed croissants? Now Mey Hoffman opens a traditional bar with classic cuisine and the kind of very simple recipes that become the most exquisite delicacy without knowing exactly why.

The menu features classics good Iberian ham, codfish fritters or roasted croquettes or other more consistent but no less traditional: the ‘cap i pota’ with chickpeas. Macaroni, that so undervalued dish that is luckily coming back, is also a must for the nostalgic. You can follow with their pig’s feet ‘kromesky’, codfish or rice with sausages and cuttlefish. Although after this is seems impossible to leave some room in your stomach for desserts?Taverna Hoffman is not suitable for those who are not into hearty meals?we strongly recommend to try some, brought from the Hoffman Bakery, for example the traditional Músic, a tile of chocolate with nuts, accompanied by a drink to help digest the food.

An average meal at Taverna Hofmann is about 25-35 euros.
