Not much was expected from the Born when, 15 years ago, the Tantarantana restaurant opened on one of its narrow streets. Now there’s no doubt it has become a classic, a pioneer that confirms the sharp intuition of owner Isidro Marqués and his decision to open it in a booming area. Like the Born, the interior of the Tantarantana is full of history, decorated with furniture halfway between the vintage and the contemporary that make us feel at home. The two levels and the outdoor area on the quiet street and another one in the lovely Allada Vermell square are always teeming with guests ordering Mediterranean market food in dishes and half-dishes.

Their menu is full of the classic famous dishes which finally became the most claimed

Over these past 15 years, the Tantarantana has become a safe bet in the area if looking for a place to eat well in a welcoming environment. The menu includes classic signature dishes such as Roast chicken croquettes, Eggplant with honey and a touch of citrus,Fried fish or Confit chicken wings. All of them duly accompanied by greener proposals, such as Burrata with marinated salmon and mustard vinaigrette and dill or the Confit Prat Artichokes Prat with Leon cured meat. The menu also features a Farm Eggs and a Sea and Earth section. Overall winners are the Mussels with coconut, chilli and coriander; Salmon tartare with beet, mustard and tarragon butter; Cod confit with ratatouille and soft garlic emulsion; Knife-cut beef steak tartare and the popular 200gr organic beef burger from the Pyrenees with caramelized onions and chips. All dishes are simply made with first-quality produce and prepared with care.

Of course, an evening at Tantarantana –or Tanta— isn’t complete without desserts. Among them are Lemon Pie, Chocolate Mousse 70 percent Cocoa and simple but effective Greek yogurt with honey.

The interesting winelist, created by the Wineissocial wine club, features Spanish surprising Spanish wines of good quality and good value.
