When looking at the photographs of American artist Stephanie Gonot, we see colours, textures and even flavors. She worked at a sandwich-shaped ice cream truck for a while, that’s perhaps why food became her muse. Her modern still lives feature the most fashionable food among young people as an example for bad eating habits.
But not all her work is food-centred. Her online portfolio is full of visually-impressive, eccentric photo series that highlight composition and color. Some of them hide a secret that very few people seem to be are aware of: Gonot has also been experimenting with moving images. An example: her fun project for Nike Women.
Interested in filmmaking, Gonot realized photography would be the easiest way to make her own shorts films. This, together with her interest in painting, helped her create a style based on the combination of colours.
However, Stephanie Gonot isn’t a full-time photographer. She also works as an artistic agent in the field of commercial photography. She once admitted one of the reasons why she likes photography is because of her “ability to arrange images in interesting sequences”, so her work as an agent is just a natural step in her life.
