Japanese architect Sou Fujimoto created in exclusive for COS an incredible light installation on the occasion of the Salone del Mobile 2016 in Milan to commemorate the presence of the firm in this prestigious salone, the world’s largest design fair, for five consecutive years.

The installation, baptized as Bosque de Luz, explores the ideas of interaction and perspective

Taking inspiration from the COS collection, the Forest of Light installation explores ideas of interaction and perspective; the darkened space is illuminated by towering cones of light that are designed to respond to visitors’ movements. With fog and specially-composed sounds creating an immersive environment, mirrored walls imagine an infinite landscape where the conical spotlights become abstracted trees, joining together to form a shifting forest of light. In the words of Sou Fujimoto: “People meander through this forest, as if lured by the charm of the light. Light and people interact with one another, its existence defining the transition of the other”. Sou Fujimoto x COS will run from 12 to 17 April.

This isn’t the first time Swedish clothing brand COS gets involved in architecture and art project. Past collaborations include Serpentine Galleries, Frieze Art fairs and the Donald Judd Foundation.
