Last week we discovered the new LACOSTE FW15 capsule collection René Did It First, a tribute to the alma mater and founder of the firm, the restless and multifaceted Rene Lacoste, who was ahead of his time and managed to position himself as a pioneer in many ways: inventing, imagining, creating new processes and optimizing existing techniques… But, above all, he revolutionized the sport to which his name will be forever linked: tennis.
As well as becoming the first Frenchman to win the US Open and the Davis Cup, among many other achievements, René Lacoste also had the bright idea of being the first player to change the classic white shirt to play tennis for a short-sleeved polo shirt. It was 1927 when the first LACOSTE polo shirt was born, an iconic garment that today has become an essential garment in our closet. For this FW15, Felipe Oliveira Baptista wanted to reflect this story and devised this capsule collection consisting of a polo shirt and several sweatshirts and sweaters.

The idea came to mind during an interview when, spontaneously, he told the journalist, who was unaware that René Lacoste had invented polos shirts: “Rene did it first” The result is a series of garments with bold and fun letters.
The capsule collection René Did It First is retailed in the Lacoste flagship stores in Barcelona (Passeig de Gràcia 51) and Madrid (C / Ayala 15).
