How are the planets inside? What do they contain? What if we could cut them in half with a radial? This is what the members of German design studio FOREAL asked themselves when some time ago they started the Planetary Anatomy project.

Illustrations showing the inside of several planets with a plasticity and hyperrealism that create a wildly surreal, bizarre and trickster effect

Planetary Anatomy is a series of quite spectacular illustrations showing the inside of several planets with a plasticity and hyperrealism that create a wildly surreal, bizarre and trickster effect. FOREAL’s drawings of the moon, Saturn and Jupiter are cut in half as if they were a fruit, with coloured fluids and chocolate-like textures emanating from them. The result is very neat prints between fiction and reality. In the words of their creators, Planetary Anatomy is “a surrealistic twist on the physical anatomy of our solar system planets.” You can buy them by here.
