There are many things going on in Brazil lately. Our latest discovery is a festival to be celebrated between April 6th and May 31st. The ®NOVA festival is a multidimensional show of contemporary culture that looks really well. NOVA is a gathering of the international avant-garde music, visual and audiovisual arts. On the inauguration day?Friday 6 April at noon?NOVA will present more than 50 live performances with over 100 national an international artists. It is organized by ROJO.
In the cultural spaces of São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, artists will gather into working groups that will collaborate with each other. In this way, the exhibition will be constantly moving and generating creativity until the last week in May. For 55 days, ®NOVA will provide visitors with over 80 hours of music, plastic arts and video-art, a unique experience aimed at promoting cultural Diversity in contemporary art with the use of colours, lights, textures, music, design and collaborative and integrative artistic compositions.
The festival is a great working site combining visual art, experimentations, contemporary techniques, technological resources and passion. The people responsible for the festival are gathered in the ROJO® collective, founded in Barcelona 11 years ago by David Quiles Guilló, the exhibition’s director and curator. NOVA’s previous editios were celebrated in São Paulo, Los Angeles and Río de Janeiro. Among the participating artists are Bill Viola (USA), Mouse on Mars (Germany), Jay Jay Johanson (Sweden), Gonjasufi (USA), Levi Van Veluw (The Netherlands), Thiago Pethit (Brazil), Yolanda Domínguez (Spain), Ryoichi Kurokawa (Japan), Mulheres Barbadas (Brazil), Boris Hoppek (Germany), Good Wives & Warriors (UK) and Rafael Rozendaal (The Netherlands), among others.
In São Paulo, the exhibition is made in association with the MIS – Museu da Imagem e do Som- and the SESC Pompéia. In Rio de Janeiro, it will be held at the Oi Casa Grande and will feature 4 large events with musical and visual shows and a mini festival with 8 shows at Circo Volador.
