Do you miss a terrace in wintertime to have lunch or enjoy a drink under the Madrid sky? Now there’s a new hotspot in the heart of Chueca, on Plaza Vázquez de Mella.

After the success of Mercado de la Reina, Carlos Padura has reinvented the concept of open-air drinks stall with a dose of glamour, open all day long and all year round. The place is decorated in wood and aluminium resembling a boat deck. During winter, La Terraza de la Reina becomes a chic Alpine-like refuge. There are heating towers in each table, chairs with fur and even antlers.

The menu also features a good selection of gin tonics prepared in a personal and sophisticated manner, along with French champagne Laurent Perrier. The food varies according to the season, Salmorejo and Salads being summer highlights and Cheese Foundee and hot wine in winter. There are also permanent dishes such as 100% beef Hamburgers. Extending the life of terraces is the greatest idea, given how much we Spaniards love being in the street. Drop by La Terraza de la Reina and enjoy Madrid!
