The huge success of Carmencita Bar ?we always drop by if were in the neighbourhood?has encouraged her owner to try open another American-inspired restaurant located on the same street the goes by the name of La Gringa. The restaurant has opted for the comfort food concept, with an American-Mexican influence; tasty recipes that, however, are not recommendable if you are on a diet.

The chef is a Californian woman with Spanish ancestors (from León) that delights guests with dishes such as Spinach & Artichoke Dip; Arizona Baked Brie; Pulled Pork Sliders; Stuffed Potato Skins; Cali Fish Tacos; House Mac & Cheese or Crispy Chicken Wings. All dishes are 8 euros and are rather large so they are great for sharing. If you like hot food, order the habanero chili sauce. As for dessert, don’t miss their homemade chocolate and carrot cakes, among others. On Wednesdays, it’s Mexican Day with tacos for ?1 accompanied by margaritas and Mexican beers. On Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays they serve brunch with dishes that are perfect for a hangover such as Huevos Rancheros.

The restaurant is spacious and boasts a simple and elegant decoration. Tables are made with hydraulic tiles. Drop by La Gringa, a must in Malasaña, and enjoy a new take on American food!
