Peruvian cuisine has gained fame in recent years, turning ceviche an essential dish in the best restaurants. In Madrid, the Tampu restaurant is a reference thanks to years of good savoire faire. Now they have opened a smaller restaurant called La Cevicuchería, a more casual and modern proposal with a Peruvian gastrobar where the main protagonists are ceviches and antichuchos.

The bar stands out, inspired by the head of an octopus, around which you can sit to enjoy how the food is being cooked, a highly recommend option. They also have tables next to a bright window and another area with comfortable benches. But if you go, the best choice is clear: reserve the nice lounge looking to the Grill Kitchen where you’ll enjoy an exclusive service.

The menu is not extensive but is full of beautifully presented traditional recipes developed with creative flair. There is a ceviche section with classic and new proposals, including duck ceviche and tapañia ceviche with passion fruit juice, banana, yucca crumbs and chunks of avocado. If you want a fish ceviche, ask the waiter because they will always recommend you the best option. The section of anticuchos, grilled marinated meat brochettes, includes the guest’s favourites?veal heart with boiled potatoes and choclo and chilli or octopues with French fires, goat cheese salad and rocoto jam. As for desserts, the menu features traditional Peruvian sweets such as the Suspiro Limeño or the Quinua Cream with Iced Coffee and candy-stewed banana. Don’t leave without trying a pisco sour in its classic or more creative versions including chilcano or pisco tonic.

A meal at La Cevicuchería is 30 euros per person. If you like Peruvian food and you’re a fan of ceviche, don’t miss it! A must!
