There are no half measures with oysters: you’re either crazy about them or you hate them. If you belong to the first group, continue reading. The popular Mercat de la Boquería just opened the Joël’s Oyster Bar, a small place of hedonistic pilgrimage to pamper your palate and your spirit with the best French oysters and other succulent seafood.

A small place of hedonist pilgrimage to delight your palate and spirit with the best french oysters

Run by Romain Fornell (Caelis, Café Turo, Café Emma and Épicerie) and Óscar Manresa (Torre d’Alta Mar, Kauai, Casa Guinart, El Altar and 99% Moto Bar), who in the past delighted us with the legendary Los Soprano pizza place also in La Boquería. Given the alarming scarcity of oyster bars in Barcelona, Fornell and Manresa decided to open the Joël’s Oyster Bar. Inspired by France’s oyster bars, located in markets or next to producers, and with the help, advice and top produce of Joël Dupuch –the 6th generation of a family of oyster producers from Arcachon— they have opened this excellent bar.

Open from Monday to Saturday, Joël’s Oyster Bar also serves lobster, prawns and king crab, caviar, fresh fish tartare and several kinds of ceviche. We recommend washing down the food with good cava, champagne or wine. You can have a glass of wine and two oysters for less than 10€ and order oysters from home.
