At first sight, Serge Marshennikov’s paitings could as well be from the Renaissance. However, his was born in Ufa (Bashkiria, URSS) in 1971. Full of details, his work reflects his passion for female beauty, eroticism and contemporary women seen with deeply classic eyes. Delicate oleo portraits of girls engrossed in their thoughts or lying dormant on sofas and a spectacular use of light places tem between the real and the oneiric.

Serge Marshennikov was born with an exceptional gift for drawing and painting, which he started developing at a very early age thanks to his mother, who discovered his son’s incredible talent and paid for private classes. Serge received several awards for his watercolors and pastel paintings until he decided to devote himself to oleo painting. He finished his studies at Ufa’s Art School in 1995 and went on to teach in one of the world’s most prestigious schools, the Repin Academy of Fine Arts in Saint Peterborough. His first solo exhibition was held at Ufa’s Shangat Gallery in 1995. It was such an incredible success he hasn’t stopped exhibiting his work around the world. More info here.
