RBMA Weekender is a festival curated by the Red Bull Music Academy celebrated on alternate days at different venues around the city. Following its first edition in Madrid in 2013, it’s the turn of Barcelona now. From 11 to 16 October, several venues in Barcelona will host performances from house to opera, techno and unconventional rap.
The festival will start on Tuesday 11 with Diamanda Galás presenting her latest show ‘Death Will Come And Will Have Your Eyes’.
Apolo, Razzmatazz, El Poble Espanyol and Mercat dels Encants –called by many the Barcelona Spitafields— are some of the venues that will host these six days of music offered by the RBMA Weekender with distinct artists with a common denominator: the personality of their proposals. Legendary contemporary artists and new bands share the bill of a unique week. The festival will start on Tuesday 11 with Diamanda Galás presenting her latest show ‘Death Will Come And Will Have Your Eyes’.
‘Death Will Come And Will Have Your Eyes’ is the name of the show of avant-garde composer, vocalist, activist and icon Diamanda Galás. A passionate and oppressive show premiered in New York a few months ago that arrives in Barcelona within the Red Bull Music Academy Weekender festival.
Diamanda Galás is one of the most influential artists of the past 30 years. The inspiration of great names such as PJ Harvey and Anohni, she has collaborated with bands and artists including Erasure, John Zorn, Recoil and John Paul Jones (Led Zeppelin), among many others. Galás is a key and magnetic character whose during her career has promoted the conection between art and activism. Her songs deal with such relevant themes as torture, suffering, genocide and HIV, which she broaches in a totally reflexive and inflammatory way.
