I still remember the hamburger with fried peppers sandwiches my mother fixed for me on excursion days. I felt I was the one with the best sandwiches of the class because, let’s be honest, not all mothers put so much care in making them, waking up very early to fry the peppers. Do you remember your excursion sandwiches?

For them with a bad foodie memory, Juanjo López’s sandwich bar, known as El Porrón Canalla, is the naughty version of his restaurant La Tasquita de Enfrente. Juanjo recovers those sandwiches that have left a mark in our memory among laughs, longing and the texture of high quality traditional ingredients. We enjoyed the sandwich with French omelet and fried green peppers; the veal sandwich; mussels with chips; sardines with onions; chorizo with egg; Gran Reserva Iberian ham; beef cheeks with boiled egg and olives; calamari, and the extraordinary chocolate sandwich with salt and olive oil.
Traditional proposals or eccentric choices that recover one of our healthiest habits though in a totally carefree way, adding the curious amusement of drinking from a porrón. El Porrón Canalla takes me back to those pack lunch days that are carved in my brain, my stomach and my heart. Mom, I love you!
