Tradition and modernity go hand in hand in this unique collaboration. Renowned designers Craig & Karl have applied their creativity and special colour touch to the legendary Irish homeware brand Waterford Crystal. The result is a postmodern vase, a limited edition of 10 units in which craftsmanship and tradition in the world of crystal come together with the eccentric and colorful approach of Craig & Karl. Crystal’s grandeur and seriousness vs. a happy pop aesthetic.

The glass bowl is an exquisite work, very groundbreaking geometric patterns and a face chairing the object

The crystal-cut vase is an exquisite work with groundbreaking geometric patterns and a portrait at the front, a detail that lends the vase a strange appearance with a lot of personality. In the words of Craig & Karl themselves: “All the cutting techniques were drawn from traditional pieces, but we tried to look for combinations that felt new or unexpected, mixing bolder lines with more intricate patterns as we do in our other work”.

Craig & Karl are an interesting tandem based in New York and London, a fact that hasn’t stopped them from doing spectacular work for Nike, Apple, Kiehl’s, LVMH, Google, Vogue, Dazed & Confsed or The New York Times. They have shown their work at the Museum of Advertising, the Louvre and Colette. Undoubtedly, this new vase is another step in his career, now in 3D and using new materials.
