We have found a new, incredible restaurant in the Raval that goes by the name of Caravelle and which changes its menu several times a day. It occupies the space of the legendary bar Fortuny delight hungry customers with breakfasts, lunches, dinners, brunches, afternoon snacks, coffee and drinks. The kitchen cooks cosmopolitan food with first-quality ingredients, combined with grace and style. The space, however, is a bit charmless.

The menu changes periodically to the continuous surprise of the customer. It comes with starters and main dishes. For example, mussels with wine and chorizo, crunchy squid with smoked tomato alioli or burrata with tomatoes, oregano and thyme. Main courses include spicy poussin, risotto with cheese and caramelized tomatoes and tuna fish with a delicious lentil salad with rosemary butter.

Brunches at Caravelle are served in Saturdays and Sundays. In addition to egg-based dishes (baked eggs with crème fraiche, leek and spinach or Moroccan-style baked eggs with feta cheese and toast), the menu features quite original sandwiches considering the most of the times boring sandwich offer at this latitude. For example, meatballs with tomato sauce and parmesan cheese or the special BLT with bacon, rocket and tomato soup.

Desserts are also outstanding. We especially like the highly original merengue with baked prunes and vanilla mascarpone, peach crumble with cream or the cake with hot chocolate and vanilla ice cream. A sweet delirium!

A meal at the Caravelle is between 15-20 euros.
