When our eyes see a painting by Henri Matisse, our mind gets lost amidst an immensity of colors and collages. Art seizes our emotions and captivates us with its simplicity and with movements that transmit life. The legacy of this key figure of modern art is, without a doubt, his extensive color palette. Publishing house Phaidon released Blue And Other Colors, the first title in a groundbreaking series of early-concept board books featuring fine art. Fine artists are paired with early learning concepts in this groundbreaking series for the toddler set.

Blue and Other Colors, the first title of a thematic book series about creators, influencers and fine arts

Henri Matisse’s abstract cut-outs are used to teach colours in this polished read-aloud board book. Blue & Other colours takes children through Matisse’s colour palette, one artwork per page, beginning with blue and returning to it as a familiar refrain throughout. The book offers a combination of learning and playing that will keep children busy with works such as The Tomato (1947) or The Sheaf(1953).
