Iconic artist Björk has released the first video from her new highly-acclaimed album Vulnicura. The track chosen is ‘Lionsong’. The video last 7 minutes full of evocative images starring Björk dressed in the same eccentric and spectacular outfit she’s wearing on the album cover, and where allegorically and literally she shows us her heart.

The piece is directed by the famous couple of photographers Inez & Vinooth, who had already collaborated Björk in the past and who define their visual interpretation of ‘Lionsong’ as follows: “Björk’s character for ‘Lionsong’ had to be smooth like a spider waiting in her web and seductive like a Balinese dancer cast in bronze. She is seen as if under a microscope, baring her heart while luring us inside the bloody galaxy of her own wound.” Through futuristic images and projections with organic airs, the video shows the inside of Björk’s heart, sequences that reflect the complexity of the painful moments that the artist went through following the breakup with her ex-partner and father of her daughter, artist Matthew Barney, which mutated in the songs featured in Vulnicura. The launch of the video coincides with the recently opened retrospective at MOMA in New York dedicated to Björk and the announcement of several concert dates.
