Gijón has always been there to offer avant-garde and experimental proposals. The opening of centers such as LABoral was a very encouraging impulse in this direction. Since then, they haven’t stopped doing interesting things. Among what’s been done in recent years, there is the L.E.V.(Laboratorio de Electrónica Visual), an International Festival of Audiovisual Creation that mixes visuals and sound. Comparable to festivals like Sonar, thought more focused on experimentation and the hybridization of genres, this 2014 edition is the 8th so far against all odds. The LEV has managed to become a reference with a broad vision of electronic sound creation and its relationship to visual arts.

LEV’s 8th edition is held on 1, 2 and 3 of May in different spaces of the Laboral City of Culture, such as the Church and the Theatre, Laboral Art and Industrial Creation Centre, and in the Atlantic Botanical Garden and the Teatro Jovellanos. The program is structured around performance, video, music, audiovisual installations and live performances.

Robert Henke, Atom TM, Esplendor Geométrico, Vatican Shadow, Vessel, Koreless, Herman Kolgen, Mark Fell, Fasenuova, Aoki Takamasa, Martin Messier, Rival Consoles, Douglas Dare, Luke Abbott, Throwing Snow, LCC, Huias, Lumisokea, PlayMid and Electronic Performers are the 20 confirmed names this year, a luxury line up ranging from the musical to the visual and its hybridizations, including architecture. A program that retains that exquisite consistency that is so characteristic of the festival, which focuses on highlighting striking audiovisual projects that transcend genres, artists and labels.

From good2b we encourage you to visit and enjoy the LEV Festival by giving away two double tickets. Just become a fan of our Facebook page and share LEV image there posted. In late April we’ll reveal the winners… Good luck!

By the way, if in addition to the L.E.V. you want to know the city a little more in depth, read about our city tour here.
