The vast city of Taipei (Taiwan), with its skyscrapers and spectacular skytrain, was erected using mainly concrete and steel, two urban materials that, interestingly, are the main source of inspiration of local industrial design studio 22 Design Studio.

They are specialized on the creation of functional objects and accesories made only with steel and concrete

Founded by designer couple and Yiting Cheng and Sean Yu, the studio takes its name from their age when they opened. They are specialized in creating functional objects and accessories, made only of these two raw materials: steel and concrete. They have created such great series as, for example, Stationary, a collection of desktop items made exclusively in concrete and available in two colors: gray and blue sky. Another of the peculiarities of 22 Design Studio is that they themselves manufacture all objects by hand, and they are true perfectionists in the process. As they say, “since the creation of the first concrete ring in 2007, we have gone through five different generations of rings, perfecting the process along the way until this model today”.

The studio and production centre, located on the same space, is currently made up of eight people. Being in the same building allows them to have more control over processes to deliver pristine final results.  More info here.
